  1. Black-Eyed Susans are pioneer plants, one of the first plants to grow after a fire or other natural disaster.

  2. Native Americans would use them to treat infections and animal bites.

  3. Black-Eyed Susans have all of their seeds in the black center of the flower.

  4. They attract bees and butterflies, helping with pollination of gardens.

  5. They bloom from June to September.
